This photo series shows some of the work done during November 2024, following the environmental catastrophe of the DANA in Valencia. This meteorological phenomenon caused an unprecedented water overflow in ravines of different localities (mainly on the Rambla del Poyo) affecting a total of 75 municipalities of Valencia (34 in Almeria, 1 in Cuenca and 1 in Malaga) with floods never seen before in the Comunidad Valenciana.

This catastrophe not only caused irreparable loss of life and property, but also fostered a social movement based on community support and volunteering networks, to make up for the lack of resources resulting from poor institutional management. This social movement was not only led by Valencian residents (whose involvement was immediate and crucial) but also by residents from different parts of Spain, generating a massive wave of citizen response throughout the national territory.

From a total of 6 albums, this photo selection portrays the effects of DANA in different aspects, from devastation inside and outside homes to the vast work of volunteering in its broadest spectrum: cleaning mud, removing debris, cooking, storage, food distribution…
