“Horta” is a photographic series which pays tribute to one of the cornerstones of Valencian culture: agriculture and orchards.
For me, portraying Valencian orchards it’s a way to connect with a backdrop in which I grew up and which I haven’t met it enough. Gradually, I understood the intangible wealth from its spaces, practices, customs and tools; as well as the need to document it now that it still exists.
In a regional political context, where territory occupied by Valencian orchards are always threatened and subjected to electoral whims, much of my generation knows the fragility that involves protect it and values its existence as cultural heritage. “Horta” pretends to extol this value, giving it visibility and promoting its conservation in the future.
